Sometimes a journalist won’t mention the name of your business during an interview but you can mention it without it sounding like you are there just to plug your business. During the interview start some of your answers with “at business name we find xyz happening all the time. At the end when the interviewer thanks you for your time reply by saying “and if any of your viewers/listeners want more information they can visit my website xyz.com.au.”

Once you’ve been interviewed in the media ensure you add it to your website to give yourself added credibility. Simply add an In the Media page and show the media coverage there. Also add a line on your home page like “As featured on “Sunrise, Radio 2GB, The Australian Newspaper” with the logo of the media outlet shown.
When an interviewer thanks you at the end for coming on the show this is a good time to say, “Thank you, and if your listeners would like more information they can visit www.[yourwebsite].com.au.” You can also mention your business name during the interview once or twice by talking about clients who come to you at your business (name) who are having similar experiences in what you’re talking about.
Many business owners say they don’t have time to try and get publicity for their business yet it only takes a few hours each month. Plan ahead and make time in your diary to spend three hours crafting a media release and sending it to relevant journalists in the media. Follow up with a phone call the next day to ensure they received it and hopefully you will be interviewed.
